The
sprawling city of Ibadan witnessed an unforgettable launch treat with
the high octave performance of both Wande Coal and Seyi Law when the
new maker of Goldberg premium lager beer, Nigeria breweries hosted her
key distributors and selected stakeholders from the South –West. The
lucky Distributors and consumers were treated to two separate events at
the prestigious Genesis Hotel, and Jogor Centre both in Ibadan, Oyo
state. The two events also served as a formal introduction of the
repackaged Goldberg premium lager beer by its new owner. The event also
reinforced the real meaning of "Goldberg" which is ‘Gold
Mountain’, a name that best describes a beer made from a unique blend
of the finest grains and hops.
After the trade
briefing at Genesis Hotel, there was an unveiling ceremony of the
product at the Jogor Centre. On ground to add flavor to the event, was
the artistic king-like display of the Gold city king and the
international dance group called Ijo-edi. They thrilled the audience
with their professional dance steps with tune of rich cultural ambience
that emphasized how the beer was expertly “lagered” to produce a crisp, distinctive flavour, refreshingly pleasing aroma and a classy Golden hue.
Wande Coal
was busy Churning out his greatest hits to the audience who cannot but
get up to dig to the beat. Their performance held fun lovers spell-
bound for over an hour with songs like Bumper to Bumper, You bad,
Ololufe, I know you like it, among many other songs. Seyi Law also
entertained guests with rib cracking jokes.
Speaking at
the event, Mr. Walter Drenth, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries
Plc, revealed that “Goldberg came from the quest to satisfy all lovers
of quality premium lager beer and we will never stop in giving our
consumers the best product and services with the hope of bringing
satisfaction. To our distributors and consumers around, this re-launch
is definitely going to be a new golden business experience”.
Mr.
Drenth reassured consumers that in terms of pricing, Goldberg has a
new pricing position different from other brands from the stables of
Nigeria breweries .“A lot of our consumers who desire high quality
premium lager beer who cannot afford the likes of Heineken, Star or
Gulder lager beer now have Goldberg, a premium beer with excellence bottle look, stamped with a crest quality, now brewed under the supervision of Nigerian Breweries Plc’ he added.
It would be
recalled that Sona Breweries Limited, former brewer of Goldberg lager
was acquired by Nigerian Breweries in January 2011. The brand which is
pocket friendly comes in specially designed proprietary
inviting-bottles, classy and unique in style with quality guaranteed in
every drop sipped.
Nigeria
Breweries Plc, the pioneer and largest brewing company in Nigeria was
incorporated in 1946 and recorded a landmark when the first bottle of
Star Lager beer rolled off the bottling lines in its Lagos Brewery in
June 1949. This was followed by the Aba Brewery which was commissioned
in 1957, Kaduna brewery in 1963 and Ibadan Brewery in 1982. In
September 1993 the company acquired its fifth brewery in Enugu while in
October 2003, a sixth brewery, sited in Ama at Enugu was commissioned. Ama brewery is the biggest in Nigeria and one of the most modern in the world.
