Corpse body of missing INEC employee’s during Edo election found

 

The corpse of an ad hoc employee of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Ekhator Iziegbe, who drowned during the July 14, 2012 Edo State governorship election, has been found.

INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Edo State,
Mrs. Sule Imondu, stated this on Saturday in Benin.

Imondu told the News Agency of Nigeria in Benin that the body was found in Kolokolo village in the state.
NAN reports that the accident, which claimed the lives of three policemen and the INEC ad hoc employee, took place in Ologbo River in Edo.

She said, “The family of the deceased just called me to inform the commission that his body has been found in Kolokolo village.

“The family said the body had decomposed and could not be taken to his village; hence he has been buried in Kolokolo.”

Imondu said INEC had been involved in the search for the body since July 14, adding, “So, we sympathise with the family and pray that God gives them the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Until his death, Iziegbe was a student of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State.

Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, Mr. Anthony Airohuoyo, also confirmed the recovery of Iziegbe’s body at Kolokolo village.
